The decking – made from plywood, the decking is the layer that closes and reinforces the roof and on which the topmost covering elements, such the shingles are installed;
Eaves – also called the fascia, the eaves run along the edge of the roof;
The attic – the space between the roof and the top of the ceiling of the top floor in the house;
The ridge – the topmost, horizontal line of the roof;
Roof valleys – the V-shaped area in which two roof slopes meet and are joined;
Roof vents – openings made from plastic or metal that ensure the proper ventilation of the attic space;
Flashing – stripes of material, usually metal, that are installed around the chimneys, the skylights, in the roof valleys and in other areas where the roof is weakened or its continuity is disrupted and serve the purpose of waterproofing the areas;
The roof cover – shingles, tiles, metal panels or slate installed on the roof to provide protection from the elements and to confer the roof and the home its final appearance.
